Coaching Boys Into Men (CBIM)
CBIM is an evidenced-based program that facilitates connections between coaches and their male athletes in high school settings in order to promote respectful behaviors among players to help prevent relationship abuse, harassment, and sexual assault. The CBIM curriculum consists of a seriates of coach-to-athlete trainings that illustrate ways to model respect and promote healthy relationships. The CBIM card series instructs coaches on how to incorporate themes associated with teamwork, integrity, fair play, and respect into their daily practice and routine. This program is currently being implemented in all Green Dot Public Schools located in Memphis
Operation Warm Winter
Operation Warm Winter take place each year during the winter months to help those without shelter or adequate clothing survive some of the coldest days of the year. During the winter season, staff and volunteers of Heal 901 travel through downtown Memphis giving away hats and gloves as well as toe and hand warmers to people living and working outside during the winter. Each winter season, Memphis endures drastic lows in temperature which poses a significant public health risk to those outside for extended periods of time. The goal of Operation Warm Winter is to help those most in need stay their warmest during the coldest times of the years.
Operation Cool Down
Operation Cool Down takes place each during the summer months to help those who must endure the extreme heat of Memphis. During the summer, temperatures climb well above 90 degrees for extended periods of time which can pose significant health risks for those not properly hydrated. Each summer, staff and volunteers of Heal 901 travel to downtown Memphis and hand out beverages to reduce the risk of dehydration among its most vulnerable citizens. The goal of Operation Cool Down is to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Heal 901 Love Day
Heal 901 Love Day takes place at least once a month to help meet the basic needs of homeless individuals in the city of Memphis living in the downtown area. During these events, staff and volunteers of Heal 901 take food, beverages, light clothing, and toiletry items to those without shelter. As one of the poorest metro areas in the United States, many of those living in Memphis are at risk for homelessness. The goal of Heal 901 Love Day is to express love to others by assisting them with some of their most immediate needs.
Heal 901 Resource Day
Heal 901 Resource Day is an annual event that aims to meet the needs of the community by bringing together community agencies in one centralized location to help better serve the people in Memphis. Heal 901 hosts this event in various neighborhoods throughout the city where community partners make themselves more accessible to the citizens of the city and provide them with education and resources related to a variety of social and health-related issues. Vendors and guest speakers are there to discuss health and wellness, mental health, credit repair, home ownership, and offer various health screenings to help improve the overall well-being of the city.
Dining to Heal
Dining to Heal is an annual fall fundraiser for Heal 901. Heal 901 partners with local restaurants for one week and during that week, a restaurant agrees to donate a portion of their sales to the organization. Many local and franchise restaurants participate in this event and is the largest fundraising campaign for Heal 901.
