About Our Program

Shifting Boundaries was created for middle school students to teach them about the importance of setting and respecting boundaries. This is accomplished through activities and whole class discussions that are centered around developing boundaries.

One activity that we do allows the students to measure the distance between them and other students. This activity shows the students in real time that some people are more comfortable than others with people being very close to them.​

Program Details

• Features six sessions, implemented over six weeks 
• Delivered during health classes
• Sessions can be done co-ed
• Sessions are discussion-based and include relevant activities to help the students learn
• Implemented in partnership with the Shelby County Crime Victims Rape Crisis Center (CVRCC)

Our Goals

1. Students will be able to recognize and uphold boundaries 
2. Students will be able to communicate their boundaries respectfully
3. Students will know how to respond when their boundaries have been violated or when they have violated someone else's boundaries
